About

Who I am, what I do, and why I do it.

I'm a self-taught designer from Chester-Le-Street, UK.

Specialising in product design, enjoying the blend of details, systems thinking, and engineering. I excel at shaping ideas, simplifying workflows, and refining details. All while collaborating closely with engineers, product teams, and stakeholders.

I'm also a husband and new father, currently trying to figure out how a baby works.

Where did I start?

Technology pulled me in early. From my first Gameboy, to jailbreaking iPods, to designing and coding gaming forum themes.

My grandmother first introduced me to design through her love of photography. While I was too young to appreciate her eye for composition, or love of black and white, I was fascinated watching her manipulate and enhance her photos in Photoshop 6.0.

Studying web design became the natural next step, helping me secure internships at design agencies before moving into full-time product design roles. The rest is history.

When I'm not designing

When I'm not working, you'll usually find me chipping away at a backlog of games I'll never quite finish, following the current Formula 1 season, or out sport climbing and bouldering. Somewhere in there I'm also trying to justify my next Lego purchase.

What are my pet peeves

As noted by my friends, I have some fairly strong opinions about specific things in this world. Here are just a few:

  1. Teapots that dribble when poured
  2. Unlabelled shower controls
  3. Draining boards that don't overcome water tension
  4. Shower controls that have no symbols or labels of any kind

Testimonials

It has always been clear that Ollie gives his full effort in anything he's involved in, and if there's nothing to tackle, he will find ways to help others, improve systems or explore opportunities with deep data dives.

Ollie is no doubt one of the best designers I have ever worked with and I have enjoyed working with him immensely. It is not often that you find someone who genuinely cares so much about their work, and each and every day holds themselves to such high standard, raising the bar for the whole team.
